Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has named Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Deputy Prime Minister.
Najib made the announcement, when naming his 28-member Cabinet line-up in Putrajaya on Thursday.
In his new team, Najib will remain as Finance Minister I while Muhyiddin will be Education Minister.
The new Cabinet is leaner, being downsized to 28 ministers from the previous 32.
There are now 25 Ministries compared to 27 previously.
Najib also appointed seven new faces to the new Cabinet and dropped eight from the previous one.
Najib was at Istana Terengganu in Kuala Lumpur at about 10:57am where he had a 30-min audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan, before leaving for Putrajaya where he announced the new line-up at 3pm.
The premier had spent the last five days juggling names and positions to take into consideration the requests and views of various Barisan Nasional component parties.
The new ministers and deputy ministers will take their oath of office at Istana Negara at 9.30am Friday.
